Reports from Spain claim that Spurs will sign Pau Lopez over the weekend, with the announcement to be made on Monday.

Pau will arrive in London on Saturday to undergo a medical. He will become the third official signing of the summer, following Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen to White Hart Lane – assuming that the Georges-Kevin Nkoudou deal rumbles on without conclusion.

The 21-year old will be able to provide vital cover for Michel Vorm while Hugo Lloris is out injured, with the upcoming League Cup tie against Gillingham looking like a perfect game for the Spaniard to make his debut. Lloris is expected to be unavailable until mid-September and the club currently lack an experienced option to provide backup to Vorm.

Though young, Pau has already made 38 La Liga appearances, been capped by the Spanish U21 side and was called up to the full squad for their pre-Euro 2016 friendly with Bosnia.

Long-term he looks likely to surpass Vorm in the pecking order, ready to be groomed as Lloris’ eventual successor.
