Reports yesterday suggested Tottenham were keen to sign Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin before the transfer deadline.

While it appears Spurs’ interest was concrete, The Sun is now claiming United manager Jose Mourinho blocked the move. It seems Mourinho has told Schneiderlin he is part of his plans.

The French international has struggled for minutes so far this season because of Paul Pogba’s big money move to Old Trafford. Worryingly for Schneiderlin, Marouane Fellaini has also been preferred to him in central midfield.

Schneiderlin, 26, was excellent for Southampton under Mauricio Pochettino, and the Tottenham manager is assumed to be keen to reunite with his former player.

But for now it seems the midfielder will remain in Manchester with Mourinho willing to give Schneiderlin the chance to prove himself.

The reports suggests Spurs could make another approach in January if Schneiderlin’s playing time does not increase.

What do you think? Should Tottenham be pursuing Schneiderlin? Or are there already too many central midfielders at the club?
