The international break can create issues for club managers and Mauricio Pochettino has some decisions to make ahead of the trip to Stoke.

Some 16 of his players were away on international duty this week, with Kevin Wimmer the only one to not have seen any action.

Five players – Toby Alderweireld, Christian Eriksen, Vincent Janssen, Jan Vertonghen and Victor Wanyama – played the full 180 minutes of their nation’s two international games.

Probably a bigger issue for Pochettino is the amount of miles travelled by players. Wanyama stands out, having not only played two full games, but also having travelled a distance of 10,000 miles, as Kenya faced away matches against Uganda and Zambia.

Yet there are two other players who put even more miles on the clock this week. Heung-Min Son had an 11,000 mile round journey to Seoul, though he at least only played in one of South Korea’s internationals, before returning early to Hotspur Way.

Erik Lamela has had the biggest journey, as he travelled 14,000 miles between London, Argentina, Venezuela and back to London again. He’s scheduled to return on Thursday and is a doubt for the Stoke game as a consequence.

Here’s the full list of players who featured in internationals this week, along with the stats on how many minutes they’ve played and miles travelled.

  1. I’m sorry but I don’t really care about players mileage tbh. Changing the subject, are the Wembley tickets paper or loaded on the WHL stadium access card?
