Harry Kane scored his third hat-trick in nine games as Tottenham thrashed Stoke City 4-0 at White Hart Lane.
The striker completed his treble before half-time. His first two strikes were brilliantly drilled, low finishes, and his third was a deflected free-kick that wrong footed the Stoke goalkeeper.
The striker then turned provider, exquisitely setting up Dele Alli for Spurs’ fourth before the break.
Tottenham saw out the second half, but injuries to Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen could be a cause for concern.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the result and performance.
When you score 4 in the first half then the second half will always be irrelevant unless the other team do something about it, Stoke nothing

Pedestrian second half. Would have been nice to see a proper 5 or 6 nil but job done early, for once! Hope Toby & Jan aren't too bad now ??

Very good. Just got to hope no serious concerns to Jan or Toby. Hopefully precautionary

After our 4-0 against Stoke at end of last season & earlier this year Spurs fell apart. See if they've learned anything.

Battered them first half and Harry was unplayable. Second half a bit disjointed due to the forced changes but back on the horse. #COYS

Harry Kane has scored more PL goals (66) than Theo Walcott (63), despite playing 149 games fewer and making his debut 2191 days after. #THFC

Incredible first half and another great response following the defeat at Liverpool and Thursday's game. Kane on fire. Up to 2nd. #COYS

Fairly dull second half but the game was won well before that. Fingers crossed now that Jan & Toby were taken off just as a precaution.
