Everton have left Ross Barkley out of their squad as they travel to Tanzania to begin their pre-season schedule.

The midfielder is believed to staying in on Merseyside to receive treatment for a groin injury, but his absence will only intensify rumours of a potential move to Tottenham.

Barkley refused to sign a new contract with Everton towards the end of last season and is expected to leave the club this summer.

Ronald Koeman has been on a bit of a spending spree over the last few weeks, notably buying Ajax’s Davy Klaasen who plays in Barkley’s position.

With just 12 months remaining on his current deal, Spurs are expecting sign Barkley on the cheap despite the fact Everton are still holding out for a big fee.

The 23-year-old would be a decent addition to the Tottenham squad, although it’s unclear whether he would play in the midfield three or the attacking three. Either way, his versatility is a plus.

  1. We missed the buy of Jordan Pickford but we can still make Three massive signings- German Goal keeper- Oliver Baunman from Hoffenhiem and then the both Italians from Torino… Midfeild- Daniele Baselli and the Striker- Andrea Belotti… Your welcome.

  2. Barkley is not what we require. He´s not better than any of our midfielders. Really pissed off about walker. 8 years with us we have seen him go from utter shit to fantastic and now he wants out. Why would we trade with a rival club to make them stronger???? Sell him to anyone outside of the UK , tell him to accept that or be tied to his contract with us. Not happy!
