Talks are underway to take Tottenham Kevin Wimmer to West Brom in a deal that could rise to £20 million, according to The Telegraph.

Spurs are reportedly confident of completing the signing of Ajax centre-back Davinson Sanchez by the end of week.

If that happens, Wimmer will fall even further down the pecking order in Tottenham’s defence.

West Brom have been chasing Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson for most of the summer, but The Telegraph claims Tony Pulis has now abandoned that particular chase.

As a result, the Baggies have set their sights on Wimmer and negotiations are believed to be at an advanced stage.

The initial fee for the Austrian is thought to be around £15m, but instalments could take that figure up to £20m.

Sky Sports have also picked up on the story.

Wimmer joined Tottenham from Koln for £4.3m in the summer of 2015, so the club will be making quite the profit on a player who barely featured in the first team last season.
