Tottenham are set to make a £20 million bid for Ross Barkley, according to The Telegraph.

Barkley is expected to undergo surgery after tearing his hamstring in training last week. He could miss up to three months of action.

The 23-year-old had just returned to action following groin surgery, so his latest injury will come as a particularly big personal blow.

But The Telegraph claims Spurs are still prepared to make a move for Barkley. The club is set to make an offer worth an initial £20m that could rise £28m including add-ons.

Last month, Ronald Koeman claimed Barkley is almost certain to leave Goodison Park by the close of the summer transfer window.

Not long after those claims the Everton boss backtracked a little, suggesting the midfielder could still play a part for the Toffees this season.

Chelsea also remain keen on signing the sidelined midfielder, so Tottenham might have to move quickly.
