Tottenham face Liverpool in the Premier League at Wembley on Sunday seeking their first win against the Merseysiders in any competition since November 2012.
Mauricio Pochettino has a number of big decisions to make concerning his team selection.
Moussa Sissoko and Fernando Llorente impressed in the Champions League draw against Real Madrid on Tuesday night, but I think they’ll both be dropped.
Ben Davies has recovered from illness, meaning Jan Vertonghen will be able to return to the back three and Eric Dier can push up into midfield.
That means there is one fewer place in midfield, and Sissoko is the most likely candidate to lose his place in the team.
Up front, a fresh Dele Alli will almost certainly replace Llorente.
I’d like to see Serge Aurier retain his place on the right, but Pochettino will probably continue rotating him with Kieran Trippier.
Here’s our Tottenham line-up to face Liverpool – what’s yours?
Would rather he played Serge & Sissoko over Trippier & Winks.
Lloris
Toby
Sanchez
Jan
Aurier
Sissoko
Dier
Davies
Eriksen
Llorente
Kane
Agreed with you Pooch your formation and to play Llorente alongside Kane because he will pose a real aerial threat to the Liverpool defence. Look at the way he held up play and knocking down balls to Kane and our other attacking players during the Madrid’s game. But I think Poch will not start Aurier and he will opt for 2 wing backs with Tripper and Davies coming back into this game. He will also play Alli and leave Llorente on the bench. Poch’s tactical formation will look something like this:-
Lloris
Alderweireld Sánchez Vertonghen
Tripper Dier Davies
Sissoko Eriksen Dele
Kane
I still hope he will start Llorente and leave one of our wing backs Davies on the bench. Thus, my ideal formation will look like this:-
Lloris
Tripper/ Alderweireld Sánchez Vertonghen
Aurier
Dier
Sissoko Eriksen Dele
Llorente Kane
The above can be a 4-1-3-2 or a 4-1-4-1 formation with Kane dropping back a little into midfield to start the attack from there.
At some point of the game, maybe we can bring in Aurier if Tripper does not perform to expectation.
agree kenya spurs must play sissoko and aurier much stronger than winks and trippier need wanyama back sorely missed in midfield
Sissoko made a difference when he came on and simply for the power he offers I would start with him, plus he and Aurier seem to have an understanding, so both for me
I am expecting something different perhaps 433 like LPL
Lloris
Tripper Alderweireld Vertonghen Davies
Dier Sissoko Eriksen
Alli Kane Llorente
