RB Leipzig are interested in signing Tottenham youngster Reo Griffiths, according to ESPN.

The 17-year-old has scored 20 goals for Tottenham’s Under-18 side this season and is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in the the country.

Despite the fact he hasn’t featured for the first team yet, Griffiths has already warmed himself to some Spurs fans by scoring a hat-trick against Arsenal in the Premier League Youth Cup semi-final last weekend.

He is yet to sign a professional contract with Tottenham, which has apparently put a number of European clubs on alert.

ESPN claims Bundesliga side RB Leipzig are chief among those suitors. Leipzig seem keen to lure young British players to Germany, with Ademola Lookman joining them on loan from Everton last month.

Former Spurs head of recruitment Paul Mitchell is now working at Leipzig, which could be the reason behind their interest – he will have seen Griffiths play plenty of times during his time in north London.

It is unclear whether Griffiths would indeed be interested in a move to the Bundesliga. But until he signs a professional contract with Tottenham, his impressive performances are likely to provoke further speculation about his future.
