Christian Eriksen has revealed Barcelona have not been in touch with him or his representatives amid reports the La Liga giants are interested in signing the Tottenham playmaker.

Earlier this week, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claimed Eriksen had contacted Barcelona to enquire if they are interested in buying him this summer.

The Dane was heavily linked with a move to Camp Nou last summer, but Barcelona ended up signing Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool instead.

Eriksen made an appearance in his hometown of Middelfart on Wednesday to take part in kids’ football training session.

Asked about the Barcelona reports, the 26-year-old dismissed them as rumours.

“They have not called. It’s just rumours,” he told Fyens.

Eriksen has scored 14 goals in all competitions this term, making 2017-18 his best goalscoring season since joining Spurs in 2013.

He has been an integral member of the team under Mauricio Pochettino, playing a big part in helping Tottenham to secure three successive top four finishes in the Premier League.

Having qualified for next season’s Champions League, Spurs should find it easier to keep hold of the likes of Eriksen this summer.

  1. This has been his best season so far with us and I hope it continues, however,it is only fair to him and other top players in the team, that if we remain on the fringe of trophies etc ,that we let him leave to attain the honours that he deserves.I am not asking lewis to buy Neymar etc,but getting ENIC to identify one or two top players that are attainable eg Vardy as a partner for Kane;Sessegnon for a back up to Lamela,Offer Toby double his wage for 2 seasons then let him leave for free (if he wants). Finally get rid of the deadwood,Sissoko.Llorents,Jansen, and Aurier that may achieve £50 mill. which could cover Vardy’s fee.
