Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Tottenham youngster Marcus Edwards, according to the Newcastle Chronicle.

Last week, reports suggested Edwards will seek an exit from Spurs this summer after failing to receive first-team assurances from Mauricio Pochettino.

The 19-year-old, once dubbed ‘Mini Messi’ by Pochettino, spent the second half of last season at Norwich City but failed to make a single senior appearance for the Championship side.

At the time, there was talk of Edwards turning up for training and team meetings late, and Norwich manager Daniel Farke repeatedly called for the winger to show more maturity.

Tottenham are expected to make a decision on the teenager’s future this summer, but Edwards may have already made his mind up.

It is believed he has accepted his chances of breaking into the first-team are slim and sees his best chance of game time elsewhere.

And according to the Newcastle Chronicle, the Magpies hold an interest in Edwards, as do Ajax and RB Leipzig.

The report also links Newcastle with a move for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, who Spurs are believed to be keen on.
