Tottenham have confirmed striker Vincent Janssen has undergone foot surgery.
Janssen has been deemed surplus to requirements by Mauricio Pochettino and had been expected to leave the club before the European transfer window closes on August 31st.
The Dutchman didn’t take part in Spurs’ pre-season tour of the US after spending last season on loan in Turkey with Fenerbahce.
He scored just five goals in 17 appearances across all competitions for Fenerbahce, but there has been plenty of talk of a return to Turkey on yet another season-long loan.
A move has failed to materialise so far, and we may have just discovered why.

On Tuesday, Tottenham revealed on Twitter that Janssen underwent minor foot surgery, and that his recovery will now be overseen by the club’s medical team.
That could mean the 24-year-old won’t be fit enough to complete a medical with another club before the end of the month, putting his career in limbo.
Janssen has scored six times in 36 games for Spurs and is unlikely to play for the Londoners again.
