Tottenham are keen on Wolfsburg winger Josip Brekalo, according to reports in Italy.

The 20-year-old has played 12 games in all competitions so far this season, scoring once and providing two assists.

Brekalo made his second senior appearance for Croatia against England in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday, coming on as a half-time substitute.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claims Spurs hold an interest in the former Dinamo Zagreb star, but it’s unclear whether the Londoners will act on that interest in January.

Tottenham failed to make a single signing in the summer, so there is a chance they will recruit new players in the winter transfer window.

That said, it’s unlikely Mauricio Pochettino will be pursuing wingers or attacking midfielders considering the amount of options he already has in those areas.

The form of Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura means there is even more competition in the forward positions than usual.

Spurs would be better off bolstering the squad in central midfield given Mousa Dembele’s contract situation and his current injury status.
