Barcelona are considering a move for Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente before the end of the month, according to reports in Spain.

Llorente scored a hat-trick against Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup earlier this month, taking his goal tally for Spurs up to nine since the beginning of last season.

The Spaniard joined from Swansea City in the summer of 2017 and has struggled for minutes under Mauricio Pochettino.

He has bagged trebles against Rochdale and Tranmere in the FA Cup but has scored just once in the Premier League, a header against Swansea last term.

The Spanish media has touted a potential return to La Liga for Llorente this month, with his former club Athletic Bilbao said to be interested.

Now, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claims Barcelona could complete a surprise swoop for the 33-year-old in the current transfer window.

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde worked with Llorente at Bilbao and it is believed a reunion is being considered, with the La Liga leaders keen to buy back-up for Luis Suarez.

The injury Harry Kane suffered against Manchester United on Sunday might convince Tottenham to keep hold of Llorente until his contract expires at the end of the season.

  1. Llorente has scored just a single Premier League goal for Tottenham! So, will be a really shock the move to LaLiga giants Barcelona!
Considering Valverde’s proposal, Arturo Vidal like Suarez’s replacement, everything is possible! So much about Ernesto’s skills!
