Tottenham Hotspur have made a €29 million bid for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez, according to reports in Spain.
However, it is believed Celta will not listen to offers below €35 million.
Gomez has scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 29 La Liga appearances so far this season.
And Spanish outlet Galicia Press, a publication local to Celta (via Sport Witness), claims Spurs have lodged an official offer for Gomez.
The 22-year-old has a €50 million release clause but the report suggests Celta will listen to offers below that value.
Tottenham, though, still aren’t offering enough with Celta demanding at least €35 million if they are to sell Gomez.
The Uruguayan, who has made 11 appearances for his country to date, has apparently been identified as a back-up option for Harry Kane.
Fernando Llorente is likely to leave the club this summer when his contract expires, so Spurs could look to buy a new centre-forward.
Whether the Londoners are willing to stump up the required amount of money for Gomez will depend on the amount of transfer funds afforded to Mauricio Pochettino.
