Negotiations between Tottenham Hotspur and Real Betis over a deal for Giovani Lo Celso have stalled, according to Sky Sports.
It is believed the two clubs are unable to agree a fee for the midfielder, who has an £88 million release clause in his contract.
Sky Sports claim Betis could accept an offer of around £70 million, so it sounds as if Spurs’ current offer is some way below that.
The report goes on to suggest that Tottenham might go back in for Lo Celso if Christian Eriksen leaves the club.
Eriksen has been linked with Real Madrid after admitting he may seek a new challenge this summer.
It seems Lo Celso has been identified as the Dane’s replacement, meaning Spurs probably won’t sign the 23-year-old unless Eriksen departs.
Sky also claim the Londoners are yet to receive an offer for Toby Alderweireld despite the Belgian’s £25 million release clause.
Alderweireld had been expected to leave Tottenham this summer but his teammates are thought to be expecting him to join them on their pre-season tour of Asia.
Ultimately, it is still possible Spurs will go into the new season with Alderweireld and Eriksen in the squad – but there is a long way to go in the transfer window.
