Hugo Lloris has said Tottenham’s new record signing Tanguy Ndombele “can do everything” following his switch from Lyon.

Spurs broke their transfer record to bring in Ndombele, who was said to be Mauricio Pochettino’s priority target.

The 22-year-old impressed against Manchester City in the Champions League last season, leading to plenty of interest in his services.

Tottenham have been in need of a new central midfielder since Mousa Dembele left for China in the January transfer window.

And with Ndombele, Lloris believes Spurs have signed a player with “massive potential” going into a potentially exciting period for the club.

“Tanguy is still a young player, but his potential is massive,” Lloris said (via ESPN). “I think he has done great things for Lyon over the last two years and has shown his quality, especially in the big games in the Champions League.

“He has won his first cap for the national team and it is clear that he will bring his skills because he is a modern midfielder who can do everything. He looks like a box-to-box player, but he is still young with a massive potential and I know that the gaffer and the coaching staff [at Spurs] will improve him and his skills.”

Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko performed admirable in the middle of the park last season, but Ndombele will add quality and depth to the squad.

Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama may struggle for game time, which could result in one of them seeking an exit in the coming months.

Tottenham are also being linked with Giovani Lo Celso, who plays slightly further forward, although Real Betis are said to value the Argentine at close to £70 million.
