Christian Eriksen had no intention of leaving Tottenham for Manchester United this summer despite ‘clear’ interest from the Red Devils, according to the Athletic.

The Dane has entered the final year of his contract and does not appear willing to sign a new deal after expressing his desire to seek a new challenge in the summer. A move away failed to materialise, but Eriksen is expected to leave either in January or on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Despite his situation, Eriksen is still being used my Mauricio Pochettino, though he was criticised by former Manchester United midfielder for his performance in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Liverpool in the Premier League – watch here.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein, one of the most reliable football journalists in the country, claims United ‘made their desire clear’ to sign Eriksen in the summer, but the 27-year-old apparently did not want to move to Old Trafford.

It is believed Eriksen only wanted to join Real Madrid or Barcelona, but the report also reveals Spurs received absolutely no offers for the playmaker. I wonder if that will still be the case by the end of January.
