Tottenham are pondering a move for Ajax star Hakim Ziyech as they continue the search for Christian Eriksen’s successor, according to 90Min.

Eriksen is expected to leave either in January or next summer having entered the final year of his contract. The Dane appears completely unwilling to sign a new deal, so Spurs are surely on the lookout for a replacement.

Last month, we relayed quotes from former Tottenham and Ajax cult icon Rafael van der Vaart, who claimed to have told Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to sign Ziyech as a result of his excellent performances in the Netherlands last season.

Ziyech was indeed superb last term, particularly in the Champions League. The Morocco international scored a brilliant goal against Tottenham in the semi-final second leg in Amsterdam before Lucas Moura became the star of the show.

And now, 90Min reports Ziyech is near the top of Spurs’ wish list of players to take Eriksen’s place in the squad. Levy is apparently prepared to pay big money for the 26-year-old, who has scored six goals across all competitions so far this season.

Tottenham fans will be hoping this one has legs, as Ziyech would be an ideal signing to help the team get out of their current predicament.

  1. I’d love to see ziyech at spurs, he has a lot of pace and skill, and a very good eye for scoring goals, from Andrew Sparsholtt, from upper Edmonton North London,
