Tottenham have seen a £16 million bid for Flamengo midfielder Gerson rejected, according to Goal.

Gerson has scored twice in seven appearances across all competitions for Flamengo in 2020 (via Transfermarkt) and still has three-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract.

Goal claims Spurs have been in touch with the 23-year-old’s people on a regular basis ahead of a possible £16m move, but recent developments are not positive for the Londoners.

The report suggests Tottenham’s interest is in vain as Gerson has no interest in joining Jose Mourinho’s side. What’s more, Flamengo apparently do no intend to sell the former Brazil Under-20 international any time soon.

Gerson has played in Europe in the past, and Goal’s story cites possible interest from Barcelona following his spells with Roma and Fiorentina. However, it seems he will be staying in Brazil for the foreseeable future.

With Moussa Sissoko fit again and Gedson Fernandes gradually settling in England, Spurs aren’t in desperate need of a midfielder like Gerson. A more defensive player to compete with Eric Dier is more urgent.

  1. Eric Dier is no longer good enough for Spurs so Spurs needs good Defender midfielder which will surely be sorted out

  2. Spurs need 2 players a defender a sitting left back and striker upfront – wh can work with Harry Kane simple as that , we need to change our tactics instead of one forward..

One of the biggest problem we have suffered is not being able to replace Dembe;e had we done so we 100% would hve beatn Liverpool in the Champion League Final, also Harry Kne should have been a 2nd half subsittute that was the major issue..
