Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Erik Lamela has been ruled out of Thursday’s Europa League game against Ludogorets and then Sunday’s trip to Chelsea.

Lamela hasn’t featured for Spurs since the win over Brighton earlier this month due to a calf injury – the latest problem the Argentine has suffered in recent years.

And now, Lamela, whose performed relatively well in his 10 appearances this term, will miss the next two fixtures because of calf issue.

Quotes via Football.London: “Erik I don’t think back this week for tomorrow or for Sunday. I think I can say that,” Mourinho said.

Whilst this appears a blow to Tottenham, Mourinho, and previously, Mauricio Pochettino, will have got to used to Lamela missing matches with small niggles, so the Portuguese should cope fine without the former Roma man.

In fact, Sunday’s win against Manchester City was the 100th match in all competitions that the 28-year-old has missed in his eight seasons with Tottenham due to injury.

Meanwhile, with Mourinho likely to rest players ahead of Sunday’s clash at Stamford Bridge, it could open the door for Dele Alli, who hasn’t been involved since the 1-0 defeat at Royal Antwerp last month.

  1. Here we go again; another niggling injury.Every single year it happens with more than one injury a season.
Such a shame as we have never been able to get the best out of him or rely upon him due to his absence.
The worse thing is that minor injuries that other players get over in 7 to 14 days, he always takes more than double time.
Still such an important member of the squad and a very good player,Spurs through and through.
Were it not for the injuries, would for sure achieved greater things at Spurs.

  2. I echo all that Delboy and to be honest I never thought he would play 90 minutes again. So I was delighted he was back. He always gives his best and I bet Jose never had to tell him to be more nasty. He never leaves the field with any friends
