Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been named Danish Player of the Year, it has been announced.

Hojbjerg has been one of the standout signings of the season in the Premier League, playing a crucial role in front of Spurs’ back line.

While that back line has been shaky throughout the campaign, Hojbjerg has been a consistently strong presence in the team since making the move from Southampton last summer.

He has also kept his regular place in the starting line-up for the Denmark national team, for whom he has made 39 senior appearances since 2013.

And deservedly, his performances for club and country haven’t gone unnoticed.

On Friday, Tottenham shared on Twitter that Hojbjerg has been named the best player in his country in the last 12 months, beating out former Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen.

The club’s fans obviously had a field day with the announcement, replying in their droves with praise and congratulations for Hojbjerg.
