Tottenham are interested in signing Lille midfielder Renato Sanches this summer, according to reports in France.

Sanches starred for Portugal at Euro 2016, five years after announcing himself to the world at Euro 2016 when he was a Benfica player.

He subsequently earned a move to Bayern Munich but things didn’t work out in Germany, nor during a strange loan spell at Swansea City.

But at Lille, Sanches has rediscovered his form of old – and he may well have earned himself a return to the Premier League.

French outlet Le Sport 10 claims Spurs have ‘strong feelings’ for the 23-year-old, though Arsenal and Barcelona are also said to be keen.

The report says Tottenham could alternatively move for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, who is also being followed by Arsenal – so the north London rivals could do battle over a couple of players this summer.

In any case, it seems Spurs are eager to strengthen in central midfield by adding a creative player in the current transfer window.

We think that’s wise, but a new centre-back should remain the priority.

  1. Really dont want renato sanchez. Really dont want anymore lucas/bergwijn types when we need an advanced creator. We need Matheus Pereira. Sanchez would just be a Mendez pleaser akin to giving redknapp crouchy, defoe, kaboul and krancjar.
