Barcelona are interested in signing Giovani Lo Celso, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Lo Celso, who enjoyed Copa America glory with Argentina just under 24 hours before England lost the Euro 2020 final, has been with Tottenham for almost two years, but hasn’t yet hit the heights that many would have hoped during his time in north London.

He was impressive pre-lockdown, stepping up to the plate when Heung Min Son and Harry Kane were out injured, but the 25-year-old suffered a hamstring injury before Christmas last season which forced him to miss almost half of the 2020-2021 campaign.

Lo Celso returned three months later and was a surprise inclusion in the starting line-up for the Carabao Cup final, one of five starts under Ryan Mason.

However, the Argentine has scored just once and added three assists in his 46 Premier League appearances and hasn’t settled into English football despite showing glimpses of his obvious quality.

He cost Tottenham around £27m when he signed permanently from Real Betis last January, but Fichajes believe that La Liga giants Barcelona are keen on signing the former PSG man.

  1. Is this Messi ordering bankrupt Barcelona to buy his Argentinian team mate after recently lifting the Copa America? Utter bullshit.

  2. His stats are very poor for us and injured too often. In the Spanish league for Real Betis he was much more productive. Been here with Lamela haven’t we? We have spent £90+ on him and Ndombele. Not had our money’s worth on either. Think one of them should move on and try someone else. We can’t have either under performing again this season. Though of course Nuno may get a tune out of both of them if we’re lucky.

    • Ndombele and Le celso are potentially amazing talent, all the attributes of a world class midfield. Pity there weren’t all there and fit when Poch was here. But if we sell either one of them. Might as well right off the next 5 years or so. We should not sell are better players

    • In fairness to Lo celso, when he has been fit he has been played wrong by jose (and mason). Needs to be swapped to an advanced 10 role in a non counter attacking system. That said, his injuries are a huge problem, as there have been plenty. We need matheus pereira as our primary advanced creative attacking mid and we can have various combinations of ndombele, dele, lo celso, kane and lamela sharing the creative burden

  3. Lets all remember that both Tanguy and Gio played under Bouriniho’s negative tactics! Same as Dele! I say lets not judge them on two of the worst seasons of my life being a Spurs fan. But on what Nuno will do letting them fly!

    • I agree that jose played ndombele, lo celso and dele all wrong but am not convinced nuno will be much different. Nuno’s teams play with more energy than jose’s but he is still a counter attacking coach which means its unlikely we will ever see dele, lo celso and ndombele in the same starting line up. All 3 of those players were supposed to play in the same starting line up when they were both signed but joses counter dictated that only pacy players could play the eriksen position and so he made all 3 compete for 1 single position.
Lo celso doesnt have the pace to hit teams on the break in a wide position but in a pressing system hes almost like a raw version of the perfect type of player to have in the final 3rd.

    • Yesses…the legacy of poch. The manager that filled out cabinet with trophies. No wonder levy treats you spurs like sh*t. You have the I.Q of a goldfish. Keep being happy with your ”DNA” while the rest of the premier League make fun of you and call you spursy.
