Alasdair Gold has provided an update on the fitness of Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso, and it’s fair to say that some Tottenham fans are not best pleased.
Romero, who’s missed the last two games, suffered a “high-grade hamstring strain” whilst playing for Argentina last month and has been ruled out for the rest of the year by Antonio Conte.
The centre-back was just beginning to find his feet following his move from Atalanta, but is now facing the prospect of missing up to 14 matches in all competitions, including 10 in the Premier League, with a February return not ruled out.
Lo Celso also played in that game against Brazil, but has since suffered a knee problem, which kept him out of the matches against Leeds and Mura.
However, Gold revealed that whilst Lo Celso will miss the Brentford game, he’ll be back on Friday and could therefore be in contention for the visit of Norwich on Sunday.
But many Spurs supporters on Twitter were far from happy with the update:
lo celso and knee problems is a reoccuring theme

Id swap all of the south Americans who seem to hate the club and run off to play for their country with 500% more commitment than they show Spurs to get Lamela back. He fought for the badge 100%!

Nothing personal but our guys shouldn’t be allowed to leave to play for Argentina anymore. It always ends up bad for us.

After joining from Atalanta, the center back was only starting to settle in. However, he might potentially miss up to 14 games in all competitions, including 10 in the Premier League, and a return in February is not out of the question.
