Tottenham are keeping tabs on Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic ahead of a possible January swoop, according to reports in Italy.

Milenkovic has made 15 appearances across all competitions so far this season and has been one of the standout centre-backs in Serie A for some time.

And now, Italian outlet Calcio Mercato is claiming that Spurs are among the clubs interested in signing the 24-year-old.

It is believed Milenkovic is wanted by Manchester United, West Ham United, Juventus and Inter Milan, while AC Milan and Spurs are said to be considering January moves.

The report says Tottenham are ‘remaining in the background’ in regards to their interest in Milenkovic, which suggests the Londoners may wait to see if others clubs make offers first.

In any case, it is becoming more and more obvious that Antonio Conte is prioritising a centre-back in the January transfer window.

It’s obvious why – Cristian Romero remains sidelined through injury and Spurs don’t have enough high-quality options for the back three.

Milenkovic would be a useful addition, but in truth it’s likely there are a number of alternatives Tottenham are looking at.
