Harry Kane will be Manchester United’s top priority when it comes to signing a striker this summer, according to The Athletic.

Kane has just two years left on his Tottenham contract, meaning the Londoners could be entering the last chance saloon to collect big money for their talisman.

However, The Athletic claims Spurs could still ask for upwards of £100 million if they are to sell Kane to United.

It is believed United will target Kane regardless of whether they appoint former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager at the end of the season.

The England captain is said to have a good relationship with Antonio Conte but wants to play Champions League football again, a desire that could lead to his departure.

That said, United – like Spurs – are at risk of missing out on a top-four finish, which would surely affect their ability to lure Kane.

History says money talks, but hopefully United fail to qualify for the Champions League and Tottenham manage to hold onto Kane for at least another season.
