On This Day In Spurs History: 12th August

1961 – On this day in 1961, League and FA Cup holders Spurs won the Charity Shield with a 3-2 win over an FA XI, that included the likes of Bobby Robson, Johnny Haynes and Bobby Charlton. Tottenham’s goals were scored by Les Allen (2) and Bobby Smith.

1967 – Spurs were also in Charity Shield action in 1967, where they drew 3-3 with Manchester United. The game is best remembered for the fact that Pat Jennings scored via a massive goal kick. Tottenham’s other goals were scored by Jimmy Greaves and Frank Saul.
