Although the January transfer window is well behind us, there has been talk this week of the possibility of Roman Pavlyuchenko leaving the club before the end of this season.

Last week Pav hit out at Harry Redknapp over his lack of first team chances: “The way I see it, the manager just doesn’t trust me and it doesn’t matter if I play well, score goals or try my best in training – nothing will make him change his mind about me.

“So I’m not going to extend my contract, which expires at the end of next season, and will try to leave the club over the summer transfer window.“

The Russian transfer window however doesn’t close until March and there had been rumours of an immediate switch to Zenit St Petersburg, but the player’s agent Oleg Artemov has ruled this out: “There is no chance that Pavlyuchenko will move from White Hart Lane until the end of the season.”

It’s unlikely that Spurs would sanction a move considering the lack of cover up front, but it seems that Pav’s days in a Lilywhite shirt are drawing to an end, with Newcastle also having been linked with a summer move for the striker.

  1. for his attitude alone we should be getting rid of him. Sorry Pav. Too much negatives from you. We have currently got the best group of players for 30 years. We have been successful last year in achieveing our goal of a top 4 spot. This year we have the same objectives and we need everyone pulling in the same direction. How is it that players who have played under Harry always talk about his man management skills being his main strength and reason for his successes as a manager. Here we have a striker who comes across as negative, barely speaks english, does not work his socks off and is of the opinion that he should be getting more game time. It seems to me that we are still looking for that main man to lead the line and unfortunately for Pav he will be the fall guy in the summer. As far as i’m concerned good luck to you fella, you were never good enough to be the man and you never showed us any consistency and the hard graft that we needed.

  2. Can he leave before the end of the season ? Affirmatively, he should be released. Very unsporting of Spurs to hold onto him just to suit their wims & fancies. This does not auger well for the image of the club dear Harry & Levy!!

  3. You cannot blame Pav for his attitude. Look at his stats versus the rest of our “strike force.” With the exception of VDV, and his penalty total included, no one else is performing as well as he. Dafoe needs a break on the bench.
Pav is seemingly being either punished because he is not liked by Harry, or because Harry is playing favorites to English players…probably has one eye on being the next England Coach…
You sit either Crouch or Defoe on the bench for 6-7 games straight and see how fast they start moaning about leaving…
