Many of the Spurs squad that were involved in Tuesday night’s game have been talking about their delight with the win and have insisted that they won’t be complacent when Milan return to the Lane.

Steven Pienaar said: “We were so well organised and we knew that a goal would come as usual, which it did late in the game.

“It can’t get better than this! Champions League, coming to a full house at the San Siro and getting a great result with an away goal.”

Looking ahead to the return leg he continued: “It’s going to be a different game at home so we just have to stay focused and keep doing what we did on Tuesday and just believe in ourselves.”

Rafael van der Vaart who supposedly had a score to settle with Ibrahimovic said: “We have a lot of good players, but belief is a big word and if you believe in something, you can reach something. When we believe against Milan, we can win.

“This Champions League campaign is getting better and better but it’s only half-time. There’s a still a big game to play, but if we play like Tuesday then we’ll win again.”

While Heurelho Gomes, who made two crucial saves in the second half rounded things off by saying: “It’s all about concentration – it’s my job. It was an important moment because, if they score at that time, I think it would have been difficult for us because they would put us under pressure again and maybe score again.

“We passed it better than them, moved the ball better than them and tried to attack them. From the first moment I thought we could win, and we did.”

It’s been a great week to be a Spurs supporter and with no game this weekend we can all indulge in the Milan win before the Blackpool game on Tuesday, when it’s back to business on the pitch.
