William Gallas spoke of his delight at our Champions League win and then revealed that he could actually have been playing in Italy rather than North London this season.

Gallas made the crucial goal line clearance on Wednesday night and his reaction at the final whistle showed just how much this all means to him.

Speaking on the club website he said: “We defended very well, not only the back four but as a team. We didn’t play great football but it doesn’t always matter if you don’t play well – the most important thing is to get a result and we did that.

“When you’re playing against a team like Milan you have to be patient and defend well. I think we played almost like an Italian club, and in the end we didn’t concede a goal.”

Speaking to L’Equipe Gallas revealed that he had offers from Juventus and Paris St Germain before coming to Tottenham.

“Everyone said I had no club this summer.

But it’s because I said no to many clubs. I had Juventus, I told them ‘no’ because my family came first. I wanted to stay in London. PSG also wanted me to sign for them. I did not want to go there.”

William cited family reasons for coming to Spurs and he wants his four children in London for now. His celebrations at the end of the game on Wednesday showed he is loving life at The Lane.
