There was good news for Spurs fans as Tom Huddlestone came through eighty minutes of action at the Lodge yesterday as a Tottenham XI beat Barnet by two goals to one.

The game was also notable for the return of mystery man John Bostock and it was Spurs who opened the scoring on five minutes with a penalty from Kudus Oyenuga.

Barnet levelled, but Huddlestone was involved in the winner on 73 minutes. A trademark Tom thunderbolt was parried by the keeper and turned into the path of Bostock to slot home.

Tim Sherwood was full of praise for Huddlestone after the game: “It was great for Tom’s fitness to get the minutes in.

“He’s never going to lose his ability and his ability to pass with both feet is almost unmatched.”

So Tom looks like he could well feature against Wigan on Saturday and could there even be a place on the bench for John Bostock?
