Spurs may well be in the market for a new striker this summer, but manager Harry Redknapp insists it won’t be Connor Wickham. The Ipswich striker now looks like he will stay at Portman Road for the foreseeable future, having signed an extension to his contract at Portman Road until 2014.

The young Ipswich star is attracting a lot of interest and there has been speculation that he would move to a Premier League club next season. Valuations have come in around the £15m mark, but Harry claims that it won’t be Spurs that delve into their pockets to sign Wickham.

“I don’t see us paying the sort of money that Ipswich are talking about,” Redknapp is quoted as saying.

“He’s not someone who’d be ready to play in the first team next season. He’d be better off staying for another year.”

Meanwhile the rumours over Romelu Lukaku continue, but he is even younger than Wickham so based on the same logic, you may think that it’s another deal that won’t be happening this summer.
