Blackpool’s dangerman for tomorrow’s match could well have been lining up in a Lilywhite shirt if things had worked differently at the end of January’s transfer window.

Charlie Adam was reportedly set to put pen to paper on a new deal at Tottenham before the clock ticked past the deadline and the transfer was called off. Whether Redknapp will go back for him in the summer remains to be seen, but for now Spurs will need to keep an eye on the player tomorrow.

Adam possesses so many of the qualities that you associate with a tough Scottish midfielder that he’s almost become a footballing cliche. – Hard tackling, combative, gritty – you name it, he’s been called it. In short, he’s the type of player that can ruffle up a midfield or defence that isn’t up for a battle. He’s also deadly from set pieces so try not to give away a penalty as he’s no Jermain Defoe from the spot.

Blackpool are still fighting for survival and that in itself should make them tough to beat and there will be nobody fighting harder than Charlie Adam at White Hart Lane tomorrow.
