It’s widely suggested that Carlos Tevez will start tonight’s game on the bench, so with him absent for part of the game at least, who is Manchester City’s dangerman this evening?

Tevez aside, Mario Balotelli attracts most of the attention, but it could be City’s only January signing who provides the main threat tonight. Edin Dzeko arrived from Wolfsburg in the winter transfer window with a record of over a goal every other game for his German side.

Dzeko has struggled since his arrival and is some way short of his former goalscoring percentages. However, at six foot four he is, to use a technical term, a ‘big unit’ and Spurs’ makeshift defence will need to be wary of his presence in the air.

Although he may be struggling to adapt to England and its football, the quality is clearly there and after breaking his City scoring duck, Edin Dzeko could be the one to supply the main danger tonight.

  1. He has been a bit of an enigma since his arrival, leading to some fans suggesting that Silva, Tevez et al are dubious about passing to him.
He does look a couple of yards behind the pace of the game, which will hopefully be rectified in the summer when he will become fully integrated into the team. That said, it didn’t take Suarez long though did it, and that was in a struggling Liverpool team at the time!

  2. Suarez didn’t play in Germany. Dzeko went into the winter break on the back of a 10 day injury absence so by the time he started at city he hadn’t kicked a ball for 5 weeks. Hopefully a full pre season will rectify
