Tottenham are facing battles to retain players throughout the squad and while all the news seems to pertain to Luka Modric today, there are rumours that Spurs will be offering new deals to the two Kyles – Walker and Naughton – in an attempt to warn off potential suitors.

Both players impressed last season while on loan and both of their host clubs, Aston Villa and Leicester City respectively were rumoured to be preparing bids. Earlier today, a story linking QPR emerged as the Loftus Road outfit prepare for life in the Premiership. Walker enjoyed a spell at QPR and the West London side have now been linked with at least four of our fringe players.

With speculation continuing, Tottenham are believed to be drawing up new contracts for both men, although Neil Warnock maystill come back in and try to take both on loan. While Naughton may be lent out as he completes his footballing education, it is thought that Walker is ready to step up to the first team and that Harry Redknapp will dismiss any kind of approach.

  1. They were sent on loan to gain experience that they would not have gained from the bench at Spurs. That worked fantastically. The next step is Premiership education. Walker has half a Premiership season, but is still unproven defensively. But I expect Walker at least to get new deal – especially since he has broken into the England squad. Naughton still has to prove it in the top league, so we may see how he goes in Europa league before we offer new deal to him. Better to dangle a carrot in from of him. Apparently Naughton can cover LB too.

  2. Loan out Naughton again because he has not got enough experience playing against premier league sides. But Walker has and lets be honest, he looks sick!
