With the season just under two months away, Tottenham stars have been looking ahead and after the Premiership fixtures were released last week, the countdown to 2011-12 has truly begun.

Spurs could hardly have given a more testing start with games against both Manchester clubs appearing in the first three weeks of the campaign. Gareth Bale however feels that the side will relish the opening matches,

“They are all hard matches but that’s the case when you play any team in the Premier League,” said the Welshman.

“Everton is always a tough game and the two Manchester teams are amongst the best in the league, but getting them early might just be good for us. Hopefully we can get into our rhythm early and get positive results.

“If we start well it will make teams sit up and take notice and getting points on the board from those matches would be great for confidence. It would set us up for the rest of the season.”

Meanwhile Michael Dawson is wary of thinking too much about City and United and underestimating first opponents Everton.

It’s always tough whenever we’ve faced Everton, and always decent games, home or away,” said Dawson.

“They are good team, everyone knows that and they will look to get off to a better start this time around.”

It’s certainly makes for a tough opening schedule but Gareth Bale makes a good point. If Spurs can get some points in the bag from those three games it really will make a statement to the rest of the sides in the Premiership.

  1. Getting points out of those games won’t worry me. It’s when we go to Swansea and get humped 4-0 that would vex me!
