Overall, the injury news from Spurs has improved in the last couple of weeks and that trend looks set to continue with both William Gallas and Sandro in contention to play against Stoke in the Carling Cup tomorrow night.

Neither player has featured in Spurs’ squad to date, even in pre-season, and manager Harry Redknapp is looking forward to having both available for selection once again,

“I’m hoping William Gallas may be okay to come back, we’ll see how he is after training this morning,” said Harry earlier today.

“Sandro is also on his way back and I may get an hour out of him tomorrow. It would be great if I could get those two back playing again.”

The return of both players will be a welcome sight for all Spurs fans but after the last two results in the Premiership, would either walk straight back into the starting line up as far as the league is concerned?

  1. This is lovely news!
    Starting xi against Stoke
    …………..Gomes
    Corluka…Gallas….Bassong…..Rose
    Giovani…Parker…Sandro….Townsend
    Pav ………..Kane

  2. Think Rose might still be knackered. Would be good if he was available as I think playing Townsend at left back is doing him more harm than good. Would like to see Gio in the hole behind Kane. I am a great believer in using these sorts of matches as a proving ground for our youngsters, as I reckon we have some serious talent in there. My only gripe (you have to moan if you’re a Yid) would be that games such a PAOK needed an experienced spine throughout to help the kids. They did fantastic on their own, but if a couple from the likes of King, gallas, Parker and Rafa had been there to give the lads a bit of guidance and a bit of a direction on the pitch, they may have won the game and taken a lot more away from it on a personal level. I can’t imagine the likes of Pav or Kaboul having the same effect on them as King and Parker would. Just gotta get the balance. I think Livermore should be shadowing Parker from now on. He could be awesome along side Sandro in the future. May mean that Parrett needs to move on which is a shame. Carroll, Mason and Bostock will have to fight it out to be the next Modric and VdV.

  3. Not sure I’d use Parker… Livermore for me. Oh, and Rose is injured, which is why Townsend played left-back in Greece.

BAE might have to play, and I’m not against VDV getting a run-out either – match fitness and all that…

  4. Cristain Ceballos needs to be playing some part in this game because he wasn’t eligible for the Europa group stages. Would be good to see Coulibaly get a run out as well. It would also be good to see Sandro and Tom Carroll together in central midfield.

  5. I personally cant begin to think what our strongest line up will be when everyone is fit.

Right and Left backs Walks and BAE pick themselves as does Friedel……but we have Ledz, Gallas, Daws and the current French International Centre back Kaboul (who plays there with Abidal) great choices and then the Sandro, Hudd, Parker, Modders battle will be interesting, I personally would have Sandro as first pick, but how can you drop Parker and Modric.

I cant wait for the Arsenal game, I think we will seriously destroy them all over the pitch, I really fear for them espiecially if King is fit

    • My preference would be to NOT drop Parker and Modric.

      This would be my line-up:

      Friedel
      Walker–King–Kaboul–BAE
      Sandro–Parker
      VdV—Modric–Bale
      Adebayor

Defoe has been looking good, though, and I could see an alternate 4-4-2 (when the competition allowed for it) with Modric and Parker in the middle, VdV and Bale as wings, with Ade and Defoe up front.

People seem to not like Kaboul’s positional sense — which I understand — but he’s fast, has a good tackle, and shut’s down attacks quickly; with King (or Gallas) to back him up and offer the positional sense he lacks we have a good combination. I’m less comfortable with Dawson/Kaboul, though.

  6. P.S team for tomorrow

    Gomes
    Corluka Gallas Bass BAE
    VDV Livermore Sandro Townsend
    Kane Gio

Pav doesnt deserve to play simple

Carroll against Stoke would be unfair on him, he doesnt have the build to deal with it

BAE needs to play Townsend would be murdered by Pennant and deserves a go in his favoured position

  7. Yes all apologies I sort of forgot about Jake Livermore, he should deffinately partner Sandro in the central midfield. So then Rose is out, Townsend should start at left-back,we cantafford to lose BAE due to fatigue-injury.
We are seriously going to destroy Arsenal. We need to rock up at Wigan and work hard for the 3points. If we beat Wigan I have no doubt that we’ll run over the gooners.
EXITEMENT ARISING FOR OUR SEASON! COYS

  8. —————-Gomes————–
    Charlie—-Gallas—–Bassong—BAE
    Falque-Sandro–Livermore-Townsend
    —-Pavlyuchenko—-Dos Santos—-

  9. For tough away games I think you’ll have Sandro and Parker as holding midfielders as well as Modric in the hole. Expect a less experienced variant on this for Stoke – Livermore for Parker and possibly VDV or Gio for Modric. Just Kane or Pav up front.

  10. ———————–Gomes——————-

    Corluka———Gallas—-Bassong—–Townsend

    Falque———-Sandro—–Livermore——-Gio

    ——————–Van der vaart—————–

    ———————Pavlechenko——————

would be my team would love to see Coulibaly too at some point.
