Yesterday we asked what the future held for Tom Huddlestone and while opinion is divided on his long term role at the club, news has come through today that answers that question in the short term at least.

Tom hasn’t appeared for Spurs since the defeat by Manchester City and has struggled with injury since the start of the season. Today, manager Harry Redknapp revealed that he will need further surgery on his troublesome ankle.

“He needs another operation. He’s already had one but there is still a problem with him. It’s a blow. He will be out for a while,” Redknapp said.

How much of the season he will miss is unclear but his absence could mirror that of last season when Tom returned very late in the campaign. In the meantime, we wish him well and hope for a speedy recovery.
