The name Papiss Demba Cisse appeared very briefly in the summer in connection with a possible move to Spurs before the rumour went away as quickly as it had appeared.

Cisse plays for Freiburg in the German Bundesliga and unlike Seydou Doumbia for example, he isn’t playing Champions League football and as such, he has largely fallen under the rumour mill radar.

His record in Germany is pretty impressive though and he averages over a goal every other game for Freiburg. Prior to that, he netted about once every three outings for three French clubs. Cisse has also scored seven times in twelve games for Senegal.

Up until now, only Sunderland, Fulham and Spurs seem to have been mentioned with regards to a January approach and it’s thought that Freiburg have slapped a prohibitive £18m price tag on the 26 year old. However, reports in Germany suggest that Bayern Munich are now taking an interest.

Spurs may have other targets in mind, but Papiss Cisse could be a decent option if the price is right.

  1. Very good player and at a top club would score shed loads more…. Would love us to get Lucas Podolski still an amazing player and would be relatively cheap.
