The big news ahead of this evening’s game is that Jermain Defoe and Aaron Lennon are back in contention and with Rafael van der Vaart ruled out, both could play from the start.

“Jermain has trained okay in the last couple of days and Aaron Lennon as well, he’s coming back, he’s looked sharp,” said Harry on Friday.

Redknapp also confirmed that Younes Kaboul and Sandro were still struggling but Ledley King could be set for two games in a week.

“Ledley, again, we’ll have to wait and see. He’s coming out this morning to have a jog around and we’ll see how he is,” Harry added.

On Monday night, Spurs put five across the midfield but now we’re back at home can we expect a standard 4-4-2?

Harry will be keen to include Lennon if he possibly can and that could result in Jake and Niko missing out with Defoe returning to partner Adebayor. At the back, the only question mark appears to be over Ledley but the boss will want him in if he possibly can – otherwise Ryan Nelsen is set for a Spurs debut.

Here’s how we see the starting XI but what do you think?

  1. Think it will be good to see Adebayor playing alongside a proper striker again, because against Liverpool he had too much responsibility in holding the ball up. I don’t know what the actual stat was but every time he got the ball he seemed to lose it, as he was waiting for someone to make a run off him – no one did. Hopefully Defoe’s sharp enough to help him this time.

  2. I feel sorry for Ade. His hold up play is fantastic but lacking goals becaus of it. Jd up with him today with two wingers a playmaker and a ball winner is perfect to face a Newcastle team missing cabaye and tiote COYS!!
