The transfer rumours started off quite sensibly this week with Spurs linked to long term target Jan Vertonghen but they seem to have hit a high level of absurdity with the suggestion that Harry is about to make a bid for Theo Walcott.

The story seems to have emerged from either the Daily Express or the Daily Mail and seems to be based on a claim from a ‘close friend’ of Harry’s who is quoted as saying,

“Harry loves Theo. He would love to manage him again for Spurs or England.”

In recent times, Redknapp has been linked with virtually every player that had passed through his managerial processes and maybe this is the same with Walcott. Alternatively, he does seem to come alive when facing Spurs so maybe having him in our ranks would prevent that factor.

As for Walter Samuel, so far this is an isolated report after the player’s agent suggested that he wants to come to the capital. However, the Argentinean centre half certainly has experience but at 33, is hardly the long term prospect that Spurs need in the heart of the defence.

Overall, both these rumours can probably be filed, never to be seen again.

  1. Absolutely NO. We already have a winger who only turns up to play every couple of games LENNON. I say put Townsend on the left and have Ble coming in of the right like he does to devastating effect for Wales. We need to buy a defensive left back,as, after the non show by BAE v Arsenal he is not the answer. Maybe Smith can play on the left.

  2. What would be the point in buying a 34yr old. we need players that i going to be in the team for years to come not just for one season!!! Get vertoghen and maybe keep Caulker if he will get game time if not loan him going back out to swansea! Think i said yesterday. i would love to see a back four of.
Walker Caulker kabaul/vertoghen Naughton. One day!!!!
