It was reported yesterday that Spurs injury crisis had deepened and the news could hardly have been worse ahead of Sunday’s match with Manchester United. In addition to the club’s existing concerns, influential winger Gareth Bale was said to have been ruled out for up to three weeks with a hamstring problem.

Gareth sustained his injury while training with Wales in the week and although it was said that he only suffered a grade one hamstring tear, it was widely thought that he has no chance of making the squad for Sunday.

The player himself had however talked about making the side and manager Harry Redknapp has also moved to play down the injury.

“That’s absolutely a million miles wrong,” Harry said in answer to the earlier report.

“He hasn’t even got a tear in his hamstring. It’s just a little bit tight but it should be OK. It shouldn’t be a problem.

“We will have to wait and see how he is. Hopefully he should be OK.”

We will indeed wait and see but it is unlikely to surprise too many people if Gareth takes his usual place in the starting XI.

  1. “We will indeed wait and see but it is unlikely to surprise too many people if Gareth takes his usual place in the starting XI” and takes a dive or two, the bloke is a disgrace.
