The suggestion over the weekend claimed that Spurs’ interest in Hugo Lloris was set to finish as Lyon were refusing to budge over his transfer fee. In the meantime, another selection of alternatives was mentioned in the Frenchman’s place.

Julio Cesar is the first contender and it’s thought that the Brazilian international could even be available on a free after losing his first team place to Samir Handanovic – another former alleged Tottenham target.

Transfer fee aside, there could still be the issue of the player’s wages which are thought to amount to 4.5 million euros each year.

Meanwhile, Valladolid keeper Jaime Jiménez Merlo – Jaime for short – has claimed that Spurs, amongst others, are interested in his services.

“That is true. Spurs and other clubs are interested,” he told Sky.

“The situation is in the hands of my agent and Valladolid. I am happy here but it is normal to desire to improve as a professional.”

At 31, Jaime has enjoyed a fairly unremarkable career with no less than ten clubs and has no international experience. Out of the two names, it’s fairly clear as to which one is preferable but there is also a growing suggestion that AVB may be ready to stick with Brad Friedel for the new season.

  1. Rumours are abound that Lloris is close to being a done deal contrary to what is being reported in the written press. Also we are supposedly in the running for Falcao and or Thomas Muller.

  2. I agree with Paul.
Brad is good enough for one more year.
With regards to Falcao or Muller, YES PLEASE! don’t really see us being able to attract either of them though
