As Andre Villas-Boas revealed in his press conference yesterday, Younes Kaboul has been ruled out of this clash but otherwise, there are no new injury concerns.

“Unfortunately, Younes had some discomfort in his patella tendon, so he went to see a specialist to analyse his knee. We’re not looking at anything serious,” AVB said.

That could conceivably give a chance for Michael Dawson to prove his worth to the club while a more likely option could be to bring in Jan Vertonghen to partner William Gallas.

Last weekend, Spurs played Lennon, Sandro, Livermore, Sigurdsson and Bale across the middle in a 4-2-3-1 and there’s no suggestion that this will change unless the coach switches to 4-4-2. Van der Vaart will be desperate to play but is likely to have to settle for the bench once again. Tottenham are favourites to beat West Brom via Bwin and other bookmakers, but they still need to start scoring goals in order to win any games.

Up front, will AVB keep Defoe after scoring last weekend or will Ade move straight back into the side?

  3. I’m loath to leave guys out that scored in their last game (and the game before for England)! Ade does have to come in, so I’d try Defoe on the right, cutting inside as more of a orthodox forward in a 433. Lennon can come on 2nd half to stretch the tired full-back.

    I’d also like to see Townsend or Carroll given a chance off the bench. Townsend is an unknown quantity for the Premier League and I’d love to see him get a chance.

    • Good team but maybe play Defoe for the first 60 and bring on ade just because lack of fitness and also Defoe is looking sharp!

      • That would be my team too (with JD starting). Ade won’t be fit enough and JD deserves the chance to continue what looks to be a decent bit of form.
        This team keeps everybody happy too (i.e VDV).

        Might have to play Caulker instead of Dawson though if the move to QPR is on.

      • I’d reverse that, actually. Let Ade put in a shift early to get him started towards match fitness and bring on Defoe as an impact sub after 60 or 70 minutes. Ideal.

    • Here here, have to play a striker who scores every week, what else can you do? You can’t give an ego like Ade a straight in to the team, he can wait till 70mins or till defoe plays shit. And Van der vaart is our most creative attacking player, actually understands football, is not just about running fast (bale, lennon).

    • agree with you on that one cant play 4-4-2 just get outnumbered in the middle the premier league has changed hardly no team plays two up front any more and if you do your liable for a spanking as you get dominated in the middle and we would have one of the most technically gifted midfields in europe with sandro vdv sig because all of thier first touches are spot on and passing is just a formality

    One surprise is Steven Caulker, trust me I watched WBA last week and there 4 strikers are a handful, Long and Odemwingie are very quick, too quick for Gallas and Lukaku and Fortune are very strong, too strong for Gallas.

    Gallas performs best against Strikers with movement and excellent technical ability, not speed and strength…….Caulker is huge, quick and strong he has to play alongside Verts for me….

  14. Can’t imagine AVB letting us try 2 new CB’s at the same time. I expect Vertonghen and Gallas to play at the back. Replace Siggy for VDV and stick with Defoe. He’s in form and i’m not sure how match fit Ade is.

    You cant drop defoe at the moment, so make him play in behind ade. We are at home so can afford to do this, as well as swapping livermore out for sig in the center.
