Earlier in the week it was expected that Benoit Assou-Ekotto would be fit again and challenging for his place at left back ahead of this game. However, at yesterday’s press conference, AVB declared that Benny wasn’t quite ready.

“Benoit is making a good recovery, so we should see him back in training next week,” Villas-Boas said.

Andre also stated that Kyle Naughton and Jake Livermore were approaching full fitness and that both would be pushing for slots tomorrow lunchtime.

“Kyle Naughton and Jake have made good progress, so hopefully they are close to being available for selection. Their return is good, positive news for us,” he added.

With no reports of any new injury concerns, the main questions lie in goal and in attack. Will Brad return for Hugo as is widely claimed and will AVB look to accommodate Adebayor for this match?

We think it will be unchanged from the team that beat Villa last time out but what’s your view?

  1. Definately Adebayor up front, Defoe has been poor in the last few games and Ade offers soo much more.

The team picks itself other than that

I just hope AVB uses the midweek Poland game as an excuse to drop Defoe, Adebayor is such a busy player and offers loads, he may not have the instinctive goalscoring of Defoe but his link play is amazing and Dempsey is a similar kind of shoot on site player as Defoe anyway.

Another thing is with 2 wingers you need height in the box, I read a stat that Bale put 7 crosses into the box against Villa, the 2nd highest of any player in a single game this season so far……I dont think Defoe has got on the end of one cross all season

  2. Defoe has scored once in his last 5 games. Give him a rest. When he is scoring, I can see why you would want to put him in. When he isn’t, the Ade is the obvious choice.

  3. hen are you going to stop

AVB when are you going to stop being Influenced by Defoe praising u every opportunity he gets. sure when hes on song what a great striker, has to many poor games for my liking. a fit Adebayor offers far more to the team than Defoe.Goback to the M. U.game the second half onslaught would have been less intence having ade as a outlet to hold the ball up. HARRY knew his stuff/ do the right thing AVB.

  4. Only changes I’d make Lloris for Brad, Ade for Defoe. Rest Defoe after mid week will need a rest and although Brad has done absolutely nothing wrong we need to look forward.
