There’s no definitive news from the Spurs camp as yet so the team is even harder to speculate upon. It could be that Ryan Mason, Iago Falque and similar fringe players could be involved although assistant manager Steffen Freund has promised a strong side.

We do know that Moussa Dembele is set to miss out again along with long term victims Scott Parker, Younes Kaboul and BAE but will there be space for Emmanuel Adebayor?

The goalkeeper question remains and while Hugo Lloris has been in the news again today, Spurs could just as easily play Carlo between the posts. Ahead of the keeper, Kyle Naughton could cover either of the full back positions with Michael Dawson set to return.

The midfield may be complete guess work but up front, the doubts over Ade should see Defoe set to keep his place.

Here’s our verdict – what’s yours?

  1. You team has a soft centre… Isn’t Falque a right winger? Isn’t Mason an attacking midfielder? I think we need to keep player the senior players until the crack AVB’s system. Vertonghen can rest, as he is out of position anyway. Bale had his rest, so does not need one. Siggy needs a start – and so does Lloris. Lloris – Naughton, Dawson, Caulker, Walker – Bale, Sandro, Siggy, Hudd, Lennon – Defoe.

  2. Agree with Tonyrich apart from Defoe. I’d play another striker. Either Dempsey up front or a youngster. Defoe needs shaking up a bit still.

Lloris. Walker, caulker, Dawson, naughton. Bale, hudd, Sandro, fredricks. Siggy. Dempsey or a youngster. Colly maybe

  3. Lloris; Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Naughton; Huddlestone, Sigurdsson; Lennon, Dempsey, Townsend; Defoe.

Lloris should be given a game, as should Dawson, Sigurdsson and Townsend. Walker, who played well at Southampton, should continue, but Naughton should be welcomed back and Gallas and Caulker should be given a rest.

  4. Ryan Mason is an attacking mid / forward – certainly not one you would have in the middle of the park.

Andros Townsend, Tom Caroll, Falque & Mason will probably feature at some point, but once again we’ll probably see the likes of Walker, Bale, Lennon, Verts, Sandro, etc. I hope all these games (europa league, prem, league cup, etc) aren’t going to have a negative affect and sap the players of their fitness come the mid / latter part of the season. We have a squad, we should use it for these games.

    • This is too late its already having affect Southampton could have ruined a good first half by pegging back tired legs with refreshed ones ?

  5. please dont play Livermore! i wanted to give him a chance but he is terrible, we always get scored against when he plays…. am i wrong???

    • …3rd tier Carlisle… And apparently did not have a good game…. He is certainly not an “AVB holding-midfielder” type.

  6. Gomes brought back from the dead well its Halloween a haunting defense Smith Dawson Hudds Naughton Falgue Mason Siggy Ceballos Dembsey Obika because if we ignore Wigans extra energy and play our big guns we will suffer another second half shocker again and fire blanks.

  7. Can’t afford to shake it up too much, this is an excellent chance to win some silverware so I would go:
Lloris, Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Naughton, Hudd, Siggi, Falque, Dempsey, Bale, Adebayor. Stick Coubilay on the bench too!

  8. Lloris Walker Dawson Vertonghen Naughton Sandro Thudd Bale Sig Lennon Ade(if fit) for me.
Lloris must get his minutes and become our number one at the league. Dawson has alot to prove now and we will have a stable defense with him and super-jan for this game.
Townsend/Faluqe/Livermore/Caroll/Ceballos/Coulibaly 3 of those should be given their chances if the game goes well, but I really want us to win this game – It’s about time we win a cup

    • Totally agree with your line-up and thoughts on this. We’re not that far into the season – the players shouldn’t be tired yet. Plus, we have a number of fairly big players due to return from injury and the option to buy in January and therefore rest a couple of players then. We need to be strong in all competitions.

  9. Lloris
    Smith Dawson Caulker Naughton
    Huddlestone Livermore
    Townsend Sigurdsson Bale
    Adebayor

For me its important that Adebayor shows his commitment to helping the side, by making himself available for matches such as this. The only way he is going to dislodge Jermain from his starting place, is by playing in these less glamorous games and performing well. Townsend needs to play more in these types of games, in my opinion, as dislodging Bale and the in form Lennon in the league at the moment looks near on impossible.

If Coulibaye IS fit, it would be nice to see the lad get some sort of run out too.
