Steven Caulker was missed on Saturday as Spurs tumbled to that 5-2 defeat at the Emirates but there is talk of an early return for tomorrow night’s Europa League tie away to Lazio. It’s also said that Steven continues to struggle with the knee issue that forced him out of that North London derby so is it really worth taking the risk?
A win in Rome is likely to secure qualification to the next phase and we all know that Andre Villas-Boas is taking the competition seriously this year. However, there is the probable insurance of a home game with Panathinaikos so should Caulker be used ahead of Sunday’s game with West Ham?
In the absence of BAE, the first choice back four looks to be Walker, Gallas, Caulker and Vertonghen. There are options of course with Michael Dawson and Kyle Naughton but it depends on how vital one player is.
So is it worth it, or would you rather see a fully fit Steven Caulker overlooked tomorrow night ahead of a probable return against the Hammers?
