Injury news in recent days has been bad from a Tottenham point of view but now it seems as if Heurelho Gomes’ likely transfer at the end of the season is in jeopardy. The Brazilian had been on loan at Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga but his season is at an end after breaking his hand in Friday’s match with Dusseldorf.

An official announcement on the German Club’s website reads,

“Heurelho Gomes will play no more this season for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

“The goalkeeper withdrew from the Bundesliga match against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Friday night after suffering a fraction of the left metacarpal bone which needs surgery.”

By all accounts, Gomes had been impressing in Germany and by conceding just nine goals in as many games, he had kept his side in with a chance of claiming the relegation play off place. Bundesliga survival may just have given Hoffenheim the incentive to sign Heurelho on a permanent deal but does this latest injury mean another frustrating season on the White Hart Lane sidelines in 2013-14?
