As last week progressed it started to look increasingly likely that Spurs would be aiming to tie up a deal for FC Twente’s Belgian International Winger Nacer Chadli. The 23 year old has a prolific record of goals and assists while playing on either wing and the player himself seemed keen on a switch to the Premier League.

‘It has been known for a while that Tottenham are interested in Nacer,’ said Chadli’s agent Daniel Evrard.

‘We would welcome this move, but I don’t think the two teams are in talks yet.

‘We’re still waiting for a contract offer.’

A few days after those comments were made, Chadli’s current employers confirmed that they have yet to receive a bid from Spurs but there is interest from elsewhere in the Premiership.

“We hear a lot about Tottenham but the club will have to put up a concrete offer first,” said Twente Chairman Jens Munsterman.

“So far, only Swansea and Shakhtar have made concrete offers and are still options, even though Nacer decided not to go to them.

“We hope for some clarity this week.”

With 21 goals in 80 league matches for his Dutch team, Chadli looks a top prospect but a move to White Hart Lane may be some way off at this point.

  1. Everyone says he is a winger but he plays more like an inside wing and is unlikely to provide the width we need. Personally i would prefer Bernard, who can play across the front three, is two footed and scores more goals ! Levy should be looking at signing quality not quantity. As for Benteke, I’m not convinced. Only one season in the EPL, teams will know how to play him next year, plus handing in a transfer request at Villa & Genk as well as going on strike tells me he will be trouble, he doesn’t care about the club but only himself ! Plus will really be as good when teams park the bus and theres no space to operate ? Weneed a clever intelligent striker !

  2. Spurs dont need width , our over reliance on width cost us the champs league place > we need a goal targeting squad wo cut through defences with eas

  3. here is one mr levy ade put out on loan he is not going quietly maybe some poor bugger will fork out half his wage bill better then selling jd who is a true spurs man then we can sell next year…..maybe then we can get benteke i dont think we are going to get a striker from overseas do you…..of course there is lou remy of qpr fame whats that wouldent be a bad pick up daniel i guess what he is cheaper……
